Katie Ferber has more than a decade of experience in media and public relations and has worked with a variety of clients ranging from municipal governments, public hospitals, school districts and universities, and nonprofits.
After starting her career in local television news as a producer, Katie joined the world of public relations with an interest focused on community engagement, stakeholder building, and public policy. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Policy at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she previously received a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism and agricultural communications.
Prior to joining SMPA, Katie was a public relations account manager at AMF Media Group and primarily served government clients including the City of San Luis Obispo and Monterey County’s public hospital. She has also worked closely with law enforcement as a communicator for the San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly Police Departments. She is passionate about helping the public sector connect with the communities they serve through innovative, fun, and engaging public relations campaigns.
Katie grew up in Ventura County and is the daughter of a retired fire captain and teacher. When she’s not helping clients create the perfect outreach tools, she enjoys ballet (dancing & watching!), volunteering with local nonprofits, and like any Central Coast resident, hiking, wine tasting, and exploring.
